Urzema | Türkiye’s First Chinese-Origin Locally Produced Cars to Roll Off the Line in September!Türkiye’s First Chinese-Origin Locally Produced Cars to Roll Off the Line in September!

The joint venture group Urzat, established by ATMO Group — one of the world’s leading global automotive sales and distribution companies — and Urzema Holding, one of Türkiye’s prominent industrial corporations, will begin production in Eskişehir as of September.

Within this scope, SWM will become the first Chinese brand to start production in Türkiye, while in December, another Chinese brand, JAC, will also begin production of its new electric vehicle, the E30X, through the Urzat project. ATMO Group CEO Anton Chernov stated, “Our production journey begins in Türkiye. Our goal is to bring the power center currently held by Chinese brands in the automotive sector to Eskişehir through the Urzat project.” Urzema Holding CEO Murat Ertaş emphasized that the supply chain is the new game-changer in today’s global world, saying, “The supply chain should shift from the global market toward Türkiye. Some brands, when investing in other countries, also bring their sub-industries and assemble their own country’s products here, presenting them as if they were locally made. Instead, together with our supply chain team, we have worked to establish a broad network of talented local suppliers in Türkiye — and we have succeeded.”
SWM and JAC Türkiye Commercial Operations Director Burak Azmanoğlu stated that the first model to roll off the production line in September will be the G01 PRO. “With the SWM brand, we will include our G03F model in local production in 2026, and by 2027, we will add another MPV model to the production line. Meanwhile, our other brand JAC will also start production in Eskişehir. JAC, which has been operating since 1964 and has a global sales volume of 600,000 units, will start production with the E30X model by the end of this year. Next year, JAC’s PHEV pick-up model will follow, and in 2027, both a hybrid and an electric SUV model will be added to the production line,” he said.

Türkiye, one of the most important centers of the global automotive industry, is hosting another major investment. ATMO Group, one of the world’s leading global automotive sales and distribution companies, is becoming a local manufacturer in Türkiye, where it entered the market in 2023 through the Chinese automaker SWM Motors. The company has established a joint venture with Urzema Holding, one of Türkiye’s leading industrial corporations, and will begin producing its first vehicles starting in September. SWM Türkiye will commence production through Urzat Otomotiv A.Ş., operating under Urzema Holding, at its factory located in the Eskişehir Organized Industrial Zone (OIZ).

ATMO Group CEO Anton Chernov stated that the company has been active in the automotive industry since 2002. “In 2012, during the early stages of our export operations, we started working with Chinese brands. By 2022, we made a very strategic decision to enter the Turkish market, officially launching our international operations. We currently operate in four countries, with Istanbul and Türkiye serving as the center of our activities. Over the years, we have collaborated with more than 40 brands, and now we are taking the most significant step for the new ATMO Group by starting production in Türkiye,” he said.
Highlighting their rapid progress since entering the Turkish market in 2023, Chernov continued: “Regulatory changes forced us to completely revise our strategy. We evaluated various scenarios — including whether to stay or leave — but our belief and strategic vision guided us. Of course, our confidence in Türkiye’s strategic importance as a market influenced our decision. The success in new car sales in Türkiye during 2023 and 2024, as well as access to European markets, played a major role in our planning. The rapid growth of the new energy vehicle market, supported by government policies, provided strong momentum for us. SWM’s global experience in developing local production projects was a significant advantage. In 2024, following our strategic partnership with Shineray, we decided to begin production in Türkiye. For a project of this magnitude, we needed a trustworthy partner — and after extensive research, we found the best one in Urzema Holding. Together, we founded Urzat, a joint venture that will focus on vehicle development and production in Türkiye.”

Urzat: The New Power Center of the Automotive Industry!

Emphasizing that they will start with a vehicle specifically designed and developed for Türkiye, Anton Chernov stated: “The first model to be produced will be a gasoline-powered ICE vehicle, but our strategy is to expand our product range to include the production and sales of electric and hybrid models as well. We plan to reach at least a 50% market share in electric and hybrid vehicles. Naturally, our future product lineup will depend on the government’s taxation strategies, but we aim to add light commercial vehicles, M1 and N1 versions, and even the motorcycle segment to our range. We also plan to expand our partnerships with global brands in the motorcycle category. In the short term, we aim to achieve annual sales of 20,000 vehicles, and by 2029, we target an annual sales volume of 40,000 units. As you know, Chinese brands currently dominate the automotive industry with their technology and advanced distribution networks. Through the Urzat project, we want to shift this power center to Eskişehir. This is our future vision, and we are doing everything in our power to make it happen.”

Providing details about the project, Urzema Holding CEO Murat Ertaş noted that Urzema Holding, with its sub-brands, exports to more than 40 countries and has many years of experience in industrial fields, particularly in the automotive sector. Pointing out that Urzat will become the new global power hub, Ertaş said: “At the core of Urzat lies the commercial expertise of ATMO and the engineering experience of Urzema Holding. As Urzat, our strategy is to combine Urzema Holding’s experience with our local culture to establish a joint production center for global brands. Yes, it all happened rather quickly — but that’s only natural. After all, in 1961, Türkiye built the Devrim car in just 120 days. These passionate Turks can achieve anything when they set their minds to it — that’s a fact. In today’s global economy, the supply chain is one of the most critical game-changers, and it should shift from global markets toward Türkiye. Some brands, when investing abroad, bring their sub-industries with them and assemble their own country’s products here, presenting them as if they were locally made. Instead, we have worked together with our supply chain team to build a wide network of skilled local suppliers across Türkiye — and we have succeeded.”
