Local SWM to Hit the Roads This Autumn

SWM Türkiye, which decided to begin production through Urzat Otomotiv A.Ş. — a joint venture between ATMO Group and Urzema Holding — at the Eskişehir Organized Industrial Zone (OIZ), plans to roll its first locally produced model, the SWM G01 Pro, off the production line this autumn. The international automotive sales and distribution company ATMO Group, which entered the Turkish market in 2023 with SWM Motors, is accelerating its investments. As a Türkiye-based company aiming to expand across international markets, ATMO Group recently established Urzat Otomotiv A.Ş., a joint venture with Urzema Holding to carry out production in Türkiye. The partnership determined the production site, and SWM Türkiye officially decided to begin manufacturing in the Eskişehir Organized Industrial Zone under the Urzat venture.

The Process Moved Rapidly

SWM Türkiye Commercial Director Burak Azmanoğlu stated, “We reached a preliminary agreement toward the end of 2024. On the production side, Urzema Holding will take the lead, and our vehicles will be manufactured in their facilities. ATMO will continue its distribution operations. Both ATMO and our Chinese partner SWM have strong confidence in the Turkish market. Türkiye has become a key market with over one million vehicle sales annually. We started this journey to explore how we could create added value in this market — and we have now achieved a highly significant milestone for our country.”

Significant Added Value for Türkiye

The Eskişehir production hub will serve not only the domestic market but also export operations. Azmanoğlu said, “Currently, our G01 model is available in Türkiye. The locally produced G01 Pro will enter the market with a refreshed interior, advanced technology, and an upgraded engine-transmission configuration. Our export infrastructure work is also ongoing. Since ATMO Group already operates across the Balkans and Europe, positioning Türkiye as an export base is highly feasible. This initiative will generate substantial added value for the Turkish economy.”

Eskişehir to Become the Heart of Technology

Urzema Holding CEO Murat Ertaş emphasized Eskişehir’s strategic importance, stating: “The assembly, quality control, and testing of SWM Türkiye’s combustion and electric vehicle models will all take place here in Eskişehir. This demonstrates that the city is reclaiming its pioneering role in Türkiye’s automotive industry. For us, Eskişehir is not only a production center but also the heart of technology and innovation. Many important models will be produced in our new facilities. Eskişehir will add value to us, and we will add value to Eskişehir.”

Ertaş added that the first year of production would begin on a smaller scale to optimize efficiency: “Initially, we plan to employ 40–45 people, increasing this number to 100 by 2026. With the second phase of investment, we aim to create employment for between 1,500 and 2,000 people. The planned project is expected to reach an annual production capacity of 200,000–250,000 vehicles by 2028.”
